Recently, three of my best buddies got married. These were all people who had been in waiting to find the proper match and had used up all the normal available options. However, as one of them gushed to me over a strong drink, it was the world-wide web that finally gave them their partners. I was a little surprised. What did they mean by that? Did they mean they met their partners in one of the chatter sites? Or that an e-mail pal had turned out to be the elusive life mate? My buddy laughed and told me that it was the online dating experience that had brought not only him, but hundreds of people like him dating success!

One of the primary concerns that people have with online dating is how authentic the service or the participants are. After all, we are all familiar with the anonymity that most online dating services propound. What prevents an older man as passing himself off as a young man or a teenager from passing herself off as a twenty five year old? Nothing right? Which is why most online dating companies invest a great deal of time, money and energy in verifying the particulars of the member base. But because this is a costly proposition, most online dating agencies need to charge a fee to cover their costs.

While for the occasional or non earnest online dating participant, this additional cost may appear like an effort to part them of their money, most real users understand and appreciate that this is a necessary service that can help weed out pranksters and unsavory elements. After all, the date they find today could very well result in something more. And most people are willing to pay for the privilege.

Another concern most people have with online dating is the circumstance that the correct match may never be found. At the face of it, one would have to concur. Most standard questions that users are asked by online dating service providers when they initially register are not concrete personality revealing items. Telling someone about your age, sex, likes, dislikes and some inside information can hardly result in scientific matches. And most people would like to spotlight their positive attributes while trying to cover up or even lie about their negative traits. But some of the more earnest online dating services have establish a way to get around this. They indulge in what is known as personality analysis to evaluate the characteristics and attributes of their members and the desired matches in order to determine the best fit. This is done by mailing out and eliciting responses from the whole online dating database. These questionnaires are scientifically designed to obtain the best fix on the real personality traits. And once this is done, it is simply a matter of finding a person with a similar personality to make a match! Everyone may not be entirely happy with the results, but it is better than the guesswork that some, insufficiently serious online dating operators use!
